The history of the West is slowly fading into the pages of history as the nineteenth and twentieth century closed and the twenty-first century began.  Those who crossed the plains in covered wagons in search of new horizons have been denigrated to the relics of the past.  As the politically correct environment of today attempts to destroy all positive aspects of this period there are those who still believe that this violent and courageous period was a positive critical time in the evolution of the Western United States.  That without the strong character, resolve and vision of these Argonauts the West as we know it today would not exist.

 The “Happy Trails” weekend of the Hookups at Newberry Springs was a “Celebration of the Spirit of the American West, of it’s music and it’s favorite Cowboys”.  As evidenced by the many wagons present and the laughter and comradely a good time was had by all.  The Wagonmasters, Robb and Lenore, assisted by Art and Marilyn made it another one of the entertaining outings that Lake Hi-Ri has become known for; this is the seventh time an outing has been hosted here in the past sixteen years.  To those who were unable to make this outing, we missed you, to those past members who were present it was great seeing you again, and to all who were there thanks for a great roundup.
